Tamara Rattigan is a Margate-born children’s author/illustrator, who still lives locally in the town with her husband and three young children. Her debut book Everybody’s Special is the first in a series of children’s illustrated story books, which aim to inspire and encourage children.

Tamara initially wrote Everybody’s Special as a short story for her own young son who had been diagnosed with Autism (ASD). Tamara wanted a way to explain to him that is okay to be different, because after all, EVERYBODY is different, and that’s what makes each and every one of us special and unique!

Everybody’s Special was a finalist in the People’s Book Prize 2016.

When Tamara is not busy writing and illustrating, she works as part of a team of “Creative Enablers” from the Turner Contemporary in Margate, working with young artists, in a child-led project to inspire the local community through art.
