We’re just days away from Super Saturday at the Margate Bookie.

On Saturday 19 August festival-goers can look forward to highlights including:

Scientist-turned-writer Felicia Yap – whose debut novel Yesterday has been described as ‘the thriller of the Summer’ by the Observer.

Paul Basset Davies – Radio 4’s Jeremy Hardy returns to Margate to interview the comedy writer Paul Bassett Davies about his book Dead Writers in Rehab.

Spy-writer Nigel West and World War II Expert, Nicholas Rankin will talk espionage, military history and deception.

Barney Hoskyns, the leading music writer and critic, will read from his latest novel, Never Enough, which charts his relationship with music and drugs. Barney will talk openly about how he overcame his addiction to heroin.

During the Unbound Pledge Party, six authors – including Catherine Spencer, the former rugby union player who captained England at the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup – will pitch their books. It’s a literary ‘Dragon’s Den’.

Chloe EspositoMatthew Blakstad and Helen Irene Young are amongst the authors taking to the stage for Vanguard Readings.

The night ends with a cocktail (or two), the virtually impossible (David) Quantick‘s Quiz and lots of laughter with Daisy Buchanan and Anna Hart.

The Bookie is jam-packed with established authors, rising literary stars and breakout local talent. Over the four days more than 25 author readings, interactive sessions, workshops and talks will take place at venues in Margate, Kent, including the iconic Turner ContemporarySands Hotel and Bernie’s Chocolate Bar.
