We’ve come to an end of our 2023 programme, and it’s been an incredible journey. We’ve brought together some amazing creatives from across Thanet, who have joined us in some great workshops, outstanding guest presentations, and created an absolutely fab Zine collection.
BESTO’ZINE brings together some of the great written pieces from The Great Indoors, Reset,
and The Open Arms, as well as giving our New Publishers the opportunity to write and share
their own creative works.
Grab your FREE copy of BESTO’ZINE here, and make sure to keep a weather eye out for more Margate Bookie Zine news soon.
Programme details:
New Publishers is a free programme designed to show a new generation of upcoming writers and artists what it takes to put together creative works in the exciting world of publishing.
Sponsored by Kent County Council’s Reconnect and Amazon Literary Partnership, and Arts Council England, this project opens up new avenues for Margate Bookie’s literary future.
Open to residents of the Thanet area (Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Birchington, Minster), our weekly sessions for 16 – 25 year olds will bring together the collective wisdoms and experiences of some of the top local experts in the areas of editing, proofing, and marketing and communications. We will also be compiling a ‘micro zine’, a compilation of the best piece from our three Margate Bookie Zines as a hand out at the next Bookie festival. This will include the steps we took, the strategies we used, the highs and the challenges of the Zine journey.
Each participant will also compile a weekly reflective journal of their New Publishers journey, which will be collected as evidence for sponsors and for blogs for the Margate Bookie website.
Join us as we take you on a guided tour of the Margate Bookie’s popular Zine Project, and giving you the chance to get hands on experience in being a New Publisher.
