About the author...

Emily Midorikawa is the author of Out of the Shadows: Six Visionary Victorian Women in Search of a Public Voice. She is also the co-author of A Secret Sisterhood: The Hidden Friendships of Austen, Brontë, Eliot and Woolf. She teaches at New York University, London.

Samantha Ellis is the author of Take Courage: Anne Brontë and the Art of Life and How to be a Heroine, both published by Chatto & Windus. She also writes plays including Cling to me Like Ivy and How to Date a Feminist, both published by Nick Hern Books.
