Janet Witts

Janet Witts is writer, and currently doing a master’s in creative writing at Canterbury Christchurch University. Having recently completed a BA. She also works part time at a Monumental Mason’s where she sees the whole gamut of life and society pass through her doors looking for a headstone!

She loves comedy, sitcoms, and is influenced by Monty Python, Victoria Wood and Caroline Aherne, for their observational humour. Janet likes to find comedy, and a sense of the ridiculousness in most situations, which comes through in her poetry monologues.

In 2017 she won the Sydney Cooper art writing prize for the exhibition “Shell lit Siambr” by Bethan Lloyd Worthington which led to a commission to write a chapbook for Dan Worthington for his exhibition Transmissions” and came 1st in a competition in Mental Health Awareness day in 2018
