Lucy Edematie is a freelance writer and former editor of the Margate Mercury., Lucy is focuses on causes that seek to be inclusive, to unite, and to benefit society’s most vulnerable and marginalised.
As part of Writing Journey, Lucy will be leading A Journalist’s Eye for a Story on May 18th, 12PM – 2PM

Lucy is excited to share her writing experience with young people in Thanet. She started her career in secondary schools located in challenging inner city contexts. She has seen first-hand the potential of the arts and creativity to empower and transform lives.

Lucy’s Writing Journey workshop will explore how to feel more confident in your unique writing voice, and integrate it into your daily life. The skills young people will help young people in lots of ways, such as applying for a job, messaging a friend, keeping a diary, inventing stories or creating poetry. Writing Journey is an opportunity for young people to experiment with different written forms, both fiction and non-fiction.

Lucy is currently working on a project that involves writing for a stage show, but she can’t release further details yet!
Writing Journey will run from the 27th April to the 1st June, and will feature six fun workshops led by inspiring, local professionals. With workshops exploring journalism, poetry, life writing, the series is completely FREE and is being offered to anyone ages 18-25 who is curious about writing!
