Her work is very rewarding, and she loves helping students discover things they never thought possible.
As part of Writing Journey, Sam and Donna will be leading Killer First Lines on June 1st, 12PM-2PM!
You’ll be able to find out:
- Why opening lines are important
- How some stories grip us from the beginning
- Ways to create your own amazing story openings
Sam and Donna both love working with young people. They’re eager to be part of the Writing Journey as it is an opportunity to help young people who enjoy writing but haven’t yet had the opportunity to explore different types of writing or creative avenues that exist in the industry.
The Writing Journey is a chance for young people to be part of a workshop environment, learn knowledge about writing and come away with new skills.
“It’s such an exciting moment when someone discovers something about their own writing and they realise ‘wow’ I can write really good poetry! I’m in it for those moments.”
The Writing Journey is an amazing way to connect with people.
“Writer’s often write alone, scurrying away on laptops or not talking to one another.”
The Writing Journey sessions will be an opportunity to learn a variety of skills, and try out different forms of writing. Not only will the sessions explore traditional forms of writing like poetry and genre fiction, but also exciting mediums like writing for TV, podcast sketches and more.
“Its a chance to try out fun, new forms of media that are popular and speak to this more online world we’re living in.”
Writing Journey will run from the 27th April to the 1st June, and will feature six fun workshops led by inspiring, local professionals. With workshops exploring journalism, poetry, life writing, the series is completely FREE and is being offered to anyone ages 18-25 who is curious about writing!
