Dale is looking forward to being part of Writing Journey as he has always found it fun and rewarding to share his writing, his experience and his knowledge with others.
“I’m really committed to encouraging people to be creative for the sake of being creative – without any strings attached or any particular goal in mind. Writing Journey is the perfect opportunity to do that.”
Our Bookie workshops (including ones led by Dale!) have shown us how important writing can be to our wellbeing, education and our social skills. Writing Journey provides these experiences to young people who are not currently in education, employment or training in the Thanet area. Amongst the knowledge and skills they gain, writing will also have an impact on their wellbeing.
“Any creative pursuit can have a radical benefit on someone’s well-being. It provides the chance to reflect on yourself and on others and the world around you. Empathy is one of the most important qualities a writer can possess. In order to write anything, you have to consider and be sympathetic to others and developing that skill can help to improve your own personal well being and enhance your social and relationship skills.”
Dale’s new podcast series of You’re Booked (which has topped the iTunes charts) will be starting soon. His wife, author and journalist Daisy Buchanan chats to authors about their reading lives and the books that have influenced them the most.
Writing Journey will run from the 27th April to the 1st June, and will feature six fun workshops led by inspiring, local professionals. With workshops exploring journalism, poetry, life writing, the series is completely FREE and is being offered to anyone ages 18-25 who is curious about writing!
