Sarah Bowman, poet and Babeslam winner

By Zita Whalley

After a childhood spent happily writing poems and stories, Sarah took a 38-year sabbatical, which she says was used for “y’know, living life” but she;’s now finally getting “back to it”.

In her return to putting pen to paper, she says she’s been helped by Margate’s “remarkably nurturing creativity community”.  Her short stories have appeared in the Margate Mercury, she’s a former Babeslam winner and is currently long-listed for the Rosemary McLeish poetry prize.

Sarah Bowman will read two of her poems at  Margate Bookie’s Local Writers Showcase at The Margate School on Tuesday, October 1 at 7pm. Most likely these will be Although I couldn’t stomach Killing Eve, Achilles’ Reasonable Adjustments. Tickets £5. Book now.
