Dragon Draw-a-long with Tamara Macfarlane

  • Tamara Macfarlane is a children’s author and founder/ co-owner of the multi award-winning Moon Lane Group which includes, Tales on Moon Lane Children's Bookshop, Moon Lane Ink CIC and Moon Lane Education Ltd. All areas of the Moon Lane Group are dedicated to raising equality in children’s books; equality of access, representation and roles in the publishing industry.

The Snow Merchant by Sam Gayton

Age Range 8 to 12 / Free event!

  • Sam Gayton lives in Margate. In 2009 he completed the Writing for Young People MA at Bath Spa University and not long after published his first book, The Snow Merchant. He loves American novels, Italian food and the English countryside. When he's not writing, he likes playing old board games, strumming his guitar and joining as many rock bands as possible (currently at seven).

Kodi and The Mystery of Komodo Island by Paul Deslandes

  • Come and join Paul for a reading of his new book, Kodi and the Mystery of Komodo Island. Join Kodi, the Komodo dragon, on his daring adventure, as he tries to solve the mystery of a mysterious beast lurking on the island. Enjoy some crafts and activities, a Q&A, and get yourself a signed copy of the book.

The Dinosaur Who Pooped a Super-hero Draw-a-long by Garry Parsons

  • This fun event will include live drawing, lively interaction and a chance for everyone to participate in a dinosaur draw-along. 

    Garry Parsons is an award-winning illustrator of books for children including the bestselling The Dinosaur That Pooped picture-book series by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter.

Kids Can Cook by Esther Coombs

11.30am - 12.30pm | Turner Contemporary

Age Range 5 to 10 / Free event!

  • Join illustrator of the award winning Kids Can Cook series Esther Coombs to learn about illustrating a cook book. 

    "Have you ever thought how you'd teach an alien to boil an egg? No?! Really!?! Well now's your chance".

    The aliens are visiting and they need to know what to eat, and because everything is new to them we are starting simple! Let’s all illustrate a mini cook book and begin filling it with recipes for aliens. Page one - Lets boil an egg! Easy you say, but can you draw it?…

    Suitable for anyone interested in drawing but especially children of primary school age and their parents, let me show you how to make a mini book, and learn how to illustrate a recipe. With a drawing warm-up (yes there is such a thing!!) and a little book to take home!

    Emily’s picture books have been published with by Nosy Crow, Andersen Press and Flying Eye Books.
